PROJET APPLICATION FOR FOOD AID FROM VINCENTIAN FAMILY IN FAVOR OF THE POOR IN THE DRC.

The Vincentian Family that seeks food aid for the poor is made up of religious communities and lay Vincentian movements (16 branches). This Family is based in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), a country in the heart of Africa. With an area of 2,345,409 Kms² and more than 80 million inhabitants, the DRC today has 26 provinces and 145 territories. Bounded by 9 neighboring countries, DR Congo is a secular state made up of more than 60% of Catholic Christians.
During this period, all of Vincentian Family's action is concerned with providing immediate responses to rapid health and food protection to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the most vulnerable. They are deeply disadvantaged to cope with the automotive crisis, the country's health systems are fragile and access to essential medical and food supplies is precarious. The project aims to improve the food security of vulnerable households affected by confinement following this COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, it will cover the food needs of 600 people scattered in different vulnerable households: Center for living people with disabilities (motor handicapped, visually impaired), home for the elderly, households in poor neighborhoods in parishes peri -urban inventoried…, in a biweekly frequency through:
- Identification of beneficiary households
- Distribution to beneficiary households of packages containing rice, beans, corn flour and cassava, oil, salt, sugar, mufflers, hydro-alcoholic soaps).
The budget will be realized under the supervision of Reverend Father Bernardin YOKA MONGU, CM National President of the Vincentian Family of the DRC and by the representatives of the other branches of the Vincentian Family.
